Companion planting is knowing which plants, vegetables, or fruits need to be planted next to each other. It helps with the growth of each plant, repels pests, and improves the flavor. Here is a list of what crop you should put next to each other.

1. Basil

Basil plants can be planted near almost any crops but you have to keep it away from rues. This plant can keep mosquitos away and can improve the flavor and the way garden crops grow. It is best planted near tomatoes and lettuce.

2. Beans

Bush beans should be planted near strawberries, potatoes, marigolds, cucumbers, corn, cauliflowers, catnips, carrots, cabbages, and beets. You need to keep it away from shallots, onions, leeks, and garlic. Bush beans when planted beside the above-mentioned plants can repel beetles.

3. Beets

Beets need to stay away from pole beans, field mustard, and charlock. It is great to be near onions, kohlrabi, chard, cauliflower, cabbage, bush beans, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli.

4. Borage

Borage repels worms when planted near tomatoes, strawberries, and squash. An advantage of companion planting near this crop is it improves the growth and flavor of the plants near it.

5. Broccoli and Brussels Sprouts

Broccoli and Brussels sprouts should be far from strawberries and near wormwood, thyme, sage, rosemary, onions, mints, marigolds, hyssops, dill, chamomile, carrots, buckwheat, and beets.
